GOODWILL COLLECTION STORY
Goodwill collects donations from the community for resale in our eight retail stores. Revenue generated from the sale of donated goods support Goodwill services.
Donations collected through community drives get sorted at the Grand Island production facility for eventual distribution to retail stores.
- Sorting of donations is a paid work opportunity for individuals receiving support through our Developmental Disability Services
- Wages are calculated by taking hours worked times the current Nebraska minimum wage.
- Revenues generated are reinvested into programs that put people to work and support independent living.
Goodwill stores also help create a healthier planet by recycling and repurposing affordable clothing, furniture, accessories and household items into the hands of someone who can put them to good use.
The support that Goodwill receives from donors and shoppers help thousands of people. When you donate your used items to Goodwill's retail stores, you support services for people with disabilities throughout Central and Western Nebraska. Plus, donations are tax-deductible.
