Your donated goods make a difference!
Goodwill retail stores provide training and employment to people with disabilities or barriers to employment. Revenues generated are reinvested into programs that put people to work, helping them achieve independence, dignity and strength. Goodwill stores also help create a healthier planet by recycling and repurposing affordable clothing, furniture, accessories and household items into the hands of someone who can put them to good use.
The support of Goodwill receives from donors and shoppers help thousands of people. When you donate your used items to Goodwill’s retail stores, you support our mission by providing training and Work at Goodwill for people with disabilities throughout Central and Western Nebraska. Plus donations are tax-deductible.
Goodwill Helps People:
- Get a job
- Gain self-sufficiency
- Develop confidence
- Learn life skills
Tax deductions:
Federal law permits Goodwill donors to claim tax deductions for many financial contributions and for donated clothing and household items in new, or good used condition. If you’re unsure whether your item qualifies for a tax deduction, ask yourself if you would give it to a relative or friend. If so, the item is most likely in good condition and is appropriate to donate. Goodwill encourages all of us to donate conscientiously and responsibly.
The U.S. Internal Revenue Service requires donors to value their items. To help guide you, Goodwill Industries International has compiled a suggested list with price ranges for items commonly sold in Goodwill stores. See the valuation guide attachment located below for your convenience. Assume the items are in good condition, and remember that prices listed are estimations only.
